Why You Need a Treadmill Floor Mat

So many people look to purchase a great treadmill, spend even several thousands of dollars on the machine, but then forget a very simple accessory that can make a very big difference in the quality of their workout for years to come. This oft-forgotten accessory is a mat for treadmill. There are several reasons why good treadmill mats are an absolute necessity that need to be purchased with treadmills, no matter what type of flooring surface the machine is set up on.

First of all, treadmill floor mats are critical to keep the treadmill balanced and functioning properly over the life of the machine. Over time, a treadmill will wear, and this wearing can cause the equipment to become slightly uneaven or unbalanced. Being unbalanced can cause several issues that you really don’t want to have to deal with over the life of your treadmill. Mainly, an uneven treadmill will not work as properly as it should. If it is not flat against the floor surface you may have issues running properly and may cause even more damage to the machine. An uneven treadmill will rock slighty, creating additional pressure on the machine each time you take a step whil running or walking. In addition, your workout will not be as effective if you are running on a wobbly treadmill.

Second, you should purchase a good mat for your treadmill simply to protect the floor it stands on. While this reason doesn’t apply as much if you have a concret floor, it does apply to every other kind of floor type, whether it be carpeting or tile or wood you need a mat to protect it. Over time, no matter how small of a treadmill you buy, there will be constant pressure on the floor which can create problems if not protected.

A good treadmill mat can significantly reduce these two problems, protecting both your machine and your floor at the same time…and it an do this at a failry mimimal cost.
