What Postcard Sizes Do Free Postcard Templates Come In?

If you are looking for a great way to send out an announcement to your friends and family, then postcards are a great way to go. It could be that you want to announce an engagement or birth, or send out an invitation to a reunion or graduation party, or even just as a nifty season’s greetings idea. Whatever your goal is, postcards are a great way to let everyone know you’re thinking about them without having to stuff envelopes, and at a much lower cost altogether.

While there are lots of online printing companies that will print up your cards and even address them and send them out, as far more inexpensive way to do this is by printing them out yourself on your home printer. If you have a good quality printer and a word processing program like Microsoft Word, you can use one of the many free postcard templates available online to make a customize, personalized postcard to ship out to your friends and relatives.

One think you’ll need to think about before you get started is size. While you might have always though that there is just one size for a postcard, that’s not really true. Templates come in a wide range of postcard sizes, from 4×6 to 5×7 to 4×9 and more.

If you are trying to cut costs, you will probably want to stick to the 4×6 option. While your printer will be able to handle most sizes, you will have to pay more in shipping if you go with anything larger than the 4×6, as that is the only one which complies with the postal service’s standards for what can be shipped at postcard rate. You don’t want to go through the effort of trying to save money only to find out that you have to pay letter rate for your postcards!
