What Is The Truth About Hair Restoration For Baldness

January 31, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Hair Loss,Health and Fitness

This is a question I get asked all the time as there seems to be more and more conflicting information on the internet every day. The fact is, if you are a man and you are experiencing balding problems then there is a 95% chance that you are suffering from Male Pattern Baldness. Male pattern baldness is a genetic condition that is known as Androgenic Alopecia. The genes that cause this problem can be passed down from either the patient’s father or mother. For years it was thought that the problem originated with the mother’s side of the family but that has now been proven to be false.

When a man suffers this condition his own body actually works against the hairs and causes them to fall out. The male hormone testosterone is reduced to simple structures when it is metabolized and one of these called DHT. This DHT, if the man has the genes for androgenic alopecia, will actually attack the hair follicles (roots) and cause them to stop producing hair shaft material. It does this by attaching to receptor sites on the follicles themselves and choking them off. With this in mind, there are only two treatments that will slow down or stop this hair loss. The first is to limit the production of DHT in the body and the second is to protect the hair follicles from attack by this hormonal substance.

If the product you are using to treat your balding does not do one of these two actions then you are just wasting your money. Your hair loss has nothing to do with clogged pores, or which vitamins you take. It has everything to do with DHT and how your hair follicles react to it. The key then is to determine which products actually treat the root of the problem and which are a waste of time and money.
