What Exercise For Over 40 Year Olds?

February 4, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Health and Fitness

It can be tough to decide which exercises to choose when you get older. It was so easy to be fit and healthy when we were in our teens and twenties but it has appeared to get harder and harder as we get older. Now that you are over 40 you should think about an exercise that won’t risk you injuring yourself or get you hurt. So what sort of exercises should you go for? Running? Jogging? How about bodybuilding?

Most people shy away from exercise and the older you get, the less inclined you are to have the energy and motivation to get out there. This is why bodybuilding is such a good sport for the over 40‘s. Running, jogging and team sports all involve some sort of exertion and although bodybuilding also requires this, there are some strength exercises that you can do in the comfort of your own home while watching the TV! You don’t even have to leave the house in order to pump some weights and build up those muscles. You don’t even need to pay out for a gym membership if you don’t want to. Just scan the local classifieds for some cheap second hand weights (or even a bench) and do it at home.

If, after a little while, you feel that you are really enjoying bodybuilding then why not take it a step further and plan out a more varied regime. You can alternate between muscle building exercises and cardio workouts. Before you know it you will be so fit (and I’m talking Jon Benson fit over 40) that you will be the envy of all your friends. Don’t let your age hold you back. Take up bodybuilding and see how you can change your body and your lifestyle for the better.
