Using White Board Markers With Presentation Boards

July 14, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Uncategorized

Presentation boards have provided a lot of benefits and use to a lot of people ranging from teachers doing a classroom lecture to members of an office doing a report during a meeting. These boards have made tasks at hand easier and more effective.

Among the most common types of presentation boards nowadays are whiteboards. These are also known as wipeboards, markerboards, dry-erase boards, dry-wipe boards, and pen-boards. These boards usually have a glossy surface and are colored white where non-permanent markings can be made. This type of boards function in the same manner as chalk boards in the sense that they allow markings to be temporarily written on their surfaces. However, white board markers are used on them as writing materials.

Some of the advantages of the use of these boards and markers are: white board ink markings are less affected by external factors like water. This is so since the ink adheres more compared to chalks – plus the use of markers does not produce dust that comes from the use of chalks thus, making them suitable for areas or offices containing dust-sensitive equipment and persons who may have asthma attacks when exposed to chalk and dust.

A white board can also be used as a projecting medium for an overhead or video projector. Through this, the teacher or the person doing the presentation will be able to fill in some blanks, edit, underline, and make some comments by writing directly onto the board. Aside from the benefits of the board itself, the writing material (white board markers) has also some advantages of its own. First would be that, it is easier to hold and write with as compared to chalk.  This will also benefit persons who have limited mobility in their hands brought about by certain diseases like arthritis or SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus).
