Using Bird Control Spikes to get rid of Pests

There are few things that annoy us more than crazy birds making all sorts of noise outside our window when we are trying to sleep or work.  Although it may be possible to tune them out when working, this is nearly impossible to do at five o’clock in the morning when all you want to do is sleep a little longer.  Don’t worry though, because there are some very good products available to easily and safely get rid of pigeons and other birds.

The first thing you need to know about getting rid of birds is that they love to land on high ledges or railings.  It just so happens that the balconies on our homes provide perfect landing spots.  If you have pigeons and other flying creatures perching on your balcony railing, the best thing to do is to get a few bird control spikes.  These consist of plastic or metal that you lay onto the railing.  Each piece has a whole bunch of pointy spikes sticking up along the length of the strip.  In most cases, laying these spiky strips is all you need to do in order to keep the birds from landing there.

When it comes to buying these pigeon control spikes, there are really only a couple choices that you have to make.  The first thing to decide is if you want to get metal or plastic ones. They both work the same way, but metal ones are going to be much more visible.  The second thing to consider is how closely spaced you want the spikes.  For keeping away large birds, normal, wide spaced ones will work fine.  If you have a problem with the little birds like sparrows, you are going to need narrow spikes.  The length of the strips is pretty universal.  Most of them come in 10 foot lengths, so you will need to measure how long an area you need to cover and order accordingly.  That is pretty much all you need to know in order to regain your peace and quiet.
