Anyone who has purchased a house of late or who has owned a home for a number of years will understand how important it is to have windows of high quality. Many different styles of window can be found in homes today. Such is the variety that windows are now often custom-made. Even builders of condominium and tract housing incorporate windows that are irregular in shape in the designs of a home’s exterior. The main problem presented by many modern windows is that of leakage. Whether this leakage is of water, heat or cold air, windows provide a great deal more than just natural lighting. Windows not only shield a house from severe weather but are also an integral part of the conservation of energy. There are so many different styles of window materials and designs to choose from. Some windows are composed of tempered glass containing two panes. These types are commonly referred to as double glazed.  Some newly manufactured windows adopt alternative materials. The most widely used window making material at present is uPVC.

uPVC windows are made from a material called unplasticized polyvinyl chloride. This material is very rigid and it can be used to make high quality window frames. The most common type of polyvinyl chloride or PVC can be found in applications related to outdoor plumbing. This type of PVC incorporates additives. When these additives are mixed together with the PVC, it allows for a material which exhibits flexibility. Up until recently, uPVC proved rigid and brittle following curing and drying. This resulted in uPVC being unsuitable for application for window frames. However, the developments in modern chemical engineering have made it possible to create a highly durable material capable of many uses. A common application of uPVC in the improvement and construction of homes is in vinyl siding. Windows made from uPVC have become popular for use in the construction of new homes. In addition, they are a popular option for replacement windows. In comparison to conventional window frames, modern upvc double glazed windows possess an improved ability to seal. They therefore prove the most excellent choice for the conservation of energy and the waterproofing of your home.
