Types of Outdoor Solar Lights

There are many types of outdoor solar lights available. It is rapidly expanding in the selection of types due to the growing interest by consumers. These range from the dim accent lights to much brighter spot lights or tasks lights. Some advantages to outdoor solar lights are obvious such as the benefit of using a renewable source of energy in the sun and the freedom from wires during installation. There are also limitations which have to be understood to make the most of these wonderful products of modern technology.

Solar accent lights produce a dim, gentle glow that require relatively little energy and can stay lit for a long time after a small period of recharging. This is much more convenient than other brighter lights but serve little function other than cosmetically enhancing your outdoor living space. Pathway lights are a little more functional and have to be brighter for the safety of people walking around. It helps people find steps or walk ways and driveways. Then there are solar spot lights that cast a focused beam of light. These require the most amount of energy and therefore more advanced technology which inevitably will cost more.

But the most interesting are decorative lights such as solar Christmas lights. These are very much like your typical Christmas lights except they will not increase your electricity bill. Unlike most other types of solar lighting products which have the solar panel built onto the rest as a single unit, Christmas lights come with a panel connected by wires. This allows you to place the panel in a location where there is optimal exposure to direct sun light while decorating the exterior of your home and yard with the lights. The down side is that these solar Christmas lights are often not as bright as your traditional lights. But how could you complain about a cheap product that provides its own electricity.
