Tired of Raking Leaves, Get a Lawn Sweeper

January 27, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Home

As a child growing up, I was responsible each fall for clearing all the leaves out of the fence line between our house and the neighbors. I always felt it was a great injustice since the majority of the leaves fell from our neighbor’s trees. I could look forward to an entire weekend of bending over shoving leaves into trash bags. I sure wish I had known about lawn sweepers then!

If you hate raking leaves as much as I do; you should try a push lawn sweeper. These things are great! Human powered and easy to operate, they whisk across your lawn with spinning brushes and sweep up leaves and other small debris that can accumulate on your lawn. Even better is push lawn sweepers are human powered making them better for the environment than the gas powered versions.

If you’re looking for a lawn sweeper, make sure you have realistic expectations of what the sweeper will get off your lawn. Generally, sweepers will get most leaves, small sticks, and some models will even sweep up pine needles and cones. However, most sweepers have difficulty lifting wet leaves and/or grass. Moreover, these garden devices work best on evenly mowed grass and yards void of large ruts, mounds, or are generally level overall.

Your best bet for finding a lawn sweeper is either searching online or visiting your local home and garden center. When shopping for a sweeper, be sure to consider storage space as many of these products take up considerable space to store. Many of the lighter push models can be hung in a garage or shed. Additionally, you can find models that fold for storage and take up minimal space. When ordering online, always be aware of shipping costs.

Save your time and back muscles by considering a lawn sweeper.
