The Race to Finding Great Auto Insurance
Most people would think that race car drivers are good drivers. Auto insurance companies differ and state that these drivers are some of the worst drivers on the road, particularly the weekend racers. Also, the accidents they are in have the worst auto damage and the most serious bodily injuries of all. Because of that fact, most auto insurance companies will not cover accidents that occur at race tracks or while an insured is participating in a high-performance driving school using their personal vehicle. The reason for this is that the majority of these accidents are at high speeds and therefore totally destroy the vehicle.
When your insurance company accepts your application for the best auto insurance discounters they expect that you will be driving on regular streets and freeways, not on race tracks. They also assume that you will not be driving above the legal speed limit under any circumstances. You, as an insured driver, should be aware that you racing your car on race tracks is just too risky and should not be done in your personal car. You should also not expect your insurance company to be responsible for your expensive hobby when accidents occur and damages are done.
There are differences in the high-performance driving schools and special weekend racing events because of certain facts, one of being that they do not normally time their runs, thereby technically they are not races. Also, the high-performance driving schools market their events as driver’s training, not as car races. So, this is another technicality because of the way they advertise themselves. These driving school accidents have been covered in the past due to the above. But, now auto insurance companies are beginning to exclude any coverage for accidents occurring while an insured was driving at any place that is specifically for racing cars. This also includes those events that are not timed. So, the insurance companies are also cutting off any payment to the so-called safety driving school courses.
This has put the insured drivers who were using their personal vehicle for racing purposes in a predicament. Do they take a chance that they will not be in a racing accident? Or do they chose to leave their expensive personal sports car at home and drive a less expensive car for racing events? They do have other options as some tracks are now offering coverage for a single event or race or a separate policy that includes coverage for a race car for a long as a year. Also, if you are one of those weekend car racers, you should try to locate an auto insurance company that provides insurance policies for race drivers and get some quotes to see if you can afford it before you participate in anymore weekend races.
