The Pie For Internet Business Opportunities Is Getting Smaller And Smaller

July 14, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Internet and Business Online

The pie for internet business opportunities is getting smaller and smaller as time goes on.  I am talking about the potential pie of customers for our web sites. Yes, the internet is getting larger every day, but is the market for our potential customers getting larger? That remains to be seen. What is clear is this: the increase in internet business opportunities is getting massively larger, which means, the competition for potential customers is being split among a larger pool of businesses.

The need to get a business for ourselves has never been greater.  The economy is bad, the job market is swamped, people need money and starting an internet home business is attractive to a lot of people. Not only is it attractive, people view the internet as a place with unlimited potential and easy pickings.  These people are in for a huge shock.

Starting an internet business requires a large skill set as well as very clear understanding of what it takes to be successful online. No one knows this better than myself.  I have extensive off line business experience, but I am struggling with the complex set of rules and inside tricks that are needed to be successful on line.

All of the internet business opportunities out there have one thing in common: we are fighting over the same scraps, we all need the same things to succeed and survive.  If we do not get our fair share, we will simply cease to exist as a business. On the internet, there are only so many people online each day that have an interest in what we have on our sites.  Once that number has seen what they want to see, that is it for that day. Based on that number, ALL of the businesses that are in that market, for that day, only have that potential of customers to deal with.

Start to look at marketing your web site with these thoughts in mind: so many potential customers to be spread so thin among thousands of sites that want the same few customers. To complicate matters even a bit further, the access to this set number of customers is 80% done through one source, the search engines (S.E.). The S.E.s are basically the gatekeepers of the traffic on the internet, if they do not like your web site, do not award your sufficient page rank, when its your turn to get some traffic, they will simply by pass you on their way to someone who they feel is a better choice for their customers.
