The Appeal of Countertop Water Coolers

June 3, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Uncategorized

When I first thought about water coolers for use at home I was a little skeptical. The thought of having large, heavy bottles of water delivered to your home, or that you had to pick up and bring home seemed inconvenient. Having filtered cold water sounds great, but is this the best way to get it?

My attitude started to change as I saw them evolve over time. Now you can get the standard water coolers that sit on the floor with the large upside-down bottles of filtered water, or you can get countertop water coolers that have a built-in water filtration system. You can also find pretty much anything in between these two options, for example a countertop water cooler that uses the filtered bottles of water.

What makes them better than a pitcher of filtered water that sits in your refrigerator is that many of them also dispense filtered hot water and room temperature water as well. So don’t be fooled by the term water cooler.

Having the option of instant filtered hot water makes all the difference as it makes the unit more versatile. With this feature you can quickly and easily make things like hot tea or instant oatmeal. These little conveniences can make a difference with our busy lifestyles.

But before you start shopping for one be sure you know what you want out of it. Make sure it holds enough water to supply you and your family’s so it truly is worthwhile, and make sure you have the space for it. If you choose one with a built in water filter compare the different types of water cooler filters available to make sure it removes the contaminants you are most concerned about and so you know what kind of maintenance is involved before you buy it. As with many products it is good to truly understand what you are buying, as far as what it will provide you versus the investment of time and money it will require, so you don’t have regrets later.
