Tattoos And Their Meaning Today

July 5, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Uncategorized

Tattoos have always been a way for people to express themselves. They go back hundreds if not thousands of years to tribal cultures and customs. Many tattoos today have been influenced in design by places like Africa, Samoa and other Pacific Islanders of long ago.

Almost all styles of tattoos have meaning or tell a story. Take for instance someone like Angelina Jolie. She has had lots of different tattoos put on her body such as star and rose tattoos with all kinds of meanings, from the names of previous boyfriends, to current things going on in her life such as the raising of her children.

In quite a few cases however, people regret getting tattoos later, and often cover them up out of either shame, or the meaning of something on their body that no longer has significance or value in their lives anymore. Often, these tattoos come about when someone is not thinking or has had too much to drink as in the case of Angelina Jolie, who got a tattoo in Amsterdam that she later regretted.

If you have been thinking of getting a tattoo, then you should know that the removal of them can be very painful, and can also be very expensive. While something that has meaning for you today seems like a good idea to inscribe on your arm or neck, you might find that a week or even a year from now, the people or the things that those tattoos represent, can become utterly valueless.

You may also want to ensure if you do plan on getting a tattoo, that you aren’t getting something put on your body which has a meaning you were unaware of. This could lead to the wrong people being attracted to you, or putting with a crowd of people you do not want to be associated with.

Use caution and remember that your body is a temple. Tattoos do have a lasting effect on the body, and many times do not look professional for work as well. It isn’t something to be taken lightly, as it may effect multiple aspects of your life including the way you are viewed by your peers and family.
