We all know the feeling. You go to your usual perfume shop to buy that perfume that you absolutely love and want to wear for that special occasion, but you can’t find it where it used to be. You look around, other perfumes from the same house are there, but yours is missing. “The perfume you’re looking for has been discontinued, ma’am” says a young clerk…

Face the truth. Don’t give up, because if you look in the right places you can wear that perfume for still a long time. Here are some tips about where to find discontinued perfumes:

Call the customer service of the brand of your discontinued perfume. The may have stock excess of that fragrance. Usually they’re willing to sell it because they can’t give it to stores anymore. And if you buy a good quantity you can get a discount on the regular price.

Cosmetics outlets usually buy large stocks of perfumes from the manufacturer. They really don’t care which perfumes they’re buying as long as can sell it at discounted prices. Often they sell discontinued perfumes which are the ones the perfumes houses are more willing to sell to alternatives channels, as they can’t be sold in regular stores anymore.

Internet: Whether eBay or Amazon or the next door housewife with a perfume blog and some stock, you’ll be surprised by the offer on the net. Also you can often find discontinued perfumes at really good prices.

Your favorite fragrance may be discontinued, but you can be able to find it in the form of oil. Mix it with a perfume with the same base or that resembles you the one you’re looking for and you’re done. Try different dosage, can you smell your perfume again?

Try discontinued perfumes’ imitations. They are sold with a name similar to the original one and usually say “inspired by…” What their manufacturers do is they buy discontinued formulas and recreate the perfumes. They are sold at a price much lower than the original ones but they are not good quality, though, the scent usually don’t last long.
