A laminating machine is a great tool to have around the house. You may not see an immediate need for a laminating machine, but you will find many uses once one is available. Not only is a laminator useful, but it is also fun to use.

Protecting Documents and Cards

Important paper documents are in every household. Papers are filed away and forgotten, until they become faded and worn. Many companies now issue cards via the internet, or issue paper cards instead of traditional plastic cards. Insurance companies and other companies that frequently issue replacement cards have turned to this practice to save money and to offer quick replacement options for customers. Cards printed off the internet can wear quickly. Paper cards carried in wallets often tear or lose printing. You can use a laminating machine to laminate and protect paper documents and cards. Before laminating, make sure it is something that can be laminated. Some official original documents, such as Social Security cards, can lose certification if they are laminated. Documents with official seals or stamps typically should not be laminated.

Waterproofing

If you spill on the document, drop the document in the sink, or splash on the document, you can simply wipe it clean and dry after it is laminated.

Items such as pressed flowers, old letters, old photos, and printouts can be laminated to create cards, key chains, and other crafty items.
