Make The Best of Your Tent
Sometimes people who buy tents are content to make the purchase then immediately go out into the forest and enjoy their products right away. While there is little wrong with this and very common, most tents come equipped with everything you need but there are also tips you can try to maximize your tent and ultimately your camping experience overall. There is no over-arching must-follow rule on how to use your tent since camping a personal experience and you can enjoy the woods how you like, but try one or two of these tips and see if they make your camping more enjoyable.
There is nothing less fun or enjoyable than a damp tent that is seeping with water and dripping all over your sleeping bags and camping gear. Most tents on the market today are pretty good when it comes to being waterproof but there are days when even the best tent may leak a drop or two. Plus if you are a fan of camping in rainy areas or challenging weather then you probably have already experienced a leak or two in your tent. In these specific cases it is always a good idea to use seam sealant to fortify the seams of your tent and make them even more insulated for rainy weather. While this might take extra effort on your part, it would be nothing compared to dealing with water coming in all the nooks and crannies of your tent if caught in a downpour.
A tent is often a sturdy structure on its own and back packers know that they can definitely be quite heavy. But in any case it is always a good idea to secure your tent to the ground using reliable tent stakes or spikes. This will keep your tent secure to the ground and prevent it from blowing away in addition to making the structure repel water effectively. The last thing you need is for your tent to be raised on a couple sides while rain continually pools at the bottom and eventually leaks into your tent.
Also keep in mind that not all tents on the market are created equal and while there are certainly good inexpensive tents on the market, try to find the best one for your given price range that go well with all the camping gear you need.
