Liposuction Techniques Impact on Cost

There is a lot of free information online about liposuction and all the cost factors that contribute to determine the final bill for the procedure. What some many of these sources forget to include is that the type of technique or methods involved will greatly impact the cost for liposuction. There is a huge difference between the traditional wet liposuction techniques, tumescent, laser and ultrasonic liposuction methods.

For starters, the basic concept is that the more time and effort required of the surgeon performing the procedure the higher the surgeon fee will be. This, of course, is just one of the many fees involved in liposuction and other factors such as the amount of anesthesia and pre-surgery charges have to be included as well in the estimate.

Ultrasonic liposuction is the use of a high pitched sound wave at a very specific frequency that targets fat cells. It is sometimes also known as vaser lipo which is the trade name of a precise frequency. The sound waves actually penetrate the body to burst fat cells in the area while leaving the other tissue unharmed. It is actually used before the incision is made to insert the cannula which is the suction tube to remove the fat that has been broken by the ultrasound.

Laser liposuction is one of the more expensive techniques when compared to a similar treatment using a different method of fat removal by suction. This is because the laser used improves the precision and accuracy of targeting fat cells which also means a slower procedure. Laser lipo removes fat from the body a little at a time and is many times slower than traditional liposuction. This means more work and time from the surgeon thus raising the cost. However, the generally smaller scale of the procedure combined with the difference in the amount of anesthetic solution used helps keep the price comparable to other lipo procedures.
