Internet Routers for Computers

A router acts as a kind of modem for your computer, connecting your computer with a network of computers, networked devices, or wireless access points. Are you in the market for a new Internet router for your computer? Well, there are many types of routers on the market. Before purchasing a new router make sure to determine which router is best suited for your computing purposes. For best results predefine your basic computing needs. The first step is to define your budget. How much are you willing to spend on the router? The amount of money that is spent might limit the type of router within your scope. So, if your budget is quite low then all you might be able to afford is a basic router. Those with a higher budget might be able to afford a router with all the bells and whistles.  Second, you will want to determine how many connections you want to connect to your router and if you want to connect wirelessly.  If more than four connections are needed and you are not connecting wirelessly then you will need a hub or a switch in addition to your router.

Some of the more popular routers are brands like D-link, Linksys, TP link, and Net Gear. If you need to add an Ethernet hub, you can get a Linksys 24 Port Hub and have all the connections you would need for any home or small business network. Most of these routers have what is called WPA encryption which also includes a way to lock the firewall so that hackers cannot gain entry to your wireless system. Most routers must be connected to a modem and Ethernet cable. And if you have an Internet Provider it is vital that you make sure that your Internet Provider is compatible with the router.
