Basketball is a very popular sport around the world, and basketball shoes are a very sought after item. The fact is that there are a lot of brands out there, and lot of different styles of shoes to choose from. You need to be very careful to find a shoe that suits you, in order to get the best performance enhancement and injury prevention possible.

Problems You Can Get With Bad Shoes

Chronic injuries are very common in people that play sport for a long time. If you play at a high level and often enough, the stress through the body can be enormous. Acute injuries can occur as well as a result of bad shoes, such as an ankle sprain, but the most that arise are chronic related.

  • Foot Problems: These are common, and one that you may have heard of in plantar fasciitis. This is when the fascia on the bottom of the foot becomes very tight and it is extremely painful.
  • Shin Problems: If you have tight feet, or a lot of force running through your legs daily, then you are at risk of shin splints.
  • Knee Problems: Knee overuse injuries are quite common amongst people with bad shoes as the shock is not absorbed effectively at the feet and it ends up being absorbed at the knee. Back Problems: your back is even in danger if you do not have the right shoe for you, for the same reason that the shock is not absorbed earlier and you can get quite a sore lower back.

How Good Shoes Can Help

Good shoes will ensure that the shock is absorbed more efficiently. This means that the daily strain you are putting on your body is reduced significantly, and you will go a long way to reducing, if not completely ruling out your chance at getting overuse injuries. Some good basketball shoes that have recently come out are Iverson shoes and shaq shoes. These are both endorsed by superstars, but also have the technology and the support to back it up.
