Haskins says the release of the letter is part of an ongoing, multi-stage plan to remove the shroud of deception and disinformation in Romney’s claims about his actions and beliefs on social issues.

“Sadly, there is no end of embarrassment and disappointment ahead for those who have hitched their own reputations to Mitt Romney’s Big Lie. Information debunking the Romney deception will continue to emerge. Honest people will admit that the legal evidence in this letter is simply unanswerable,” Haskins said.

“It’s about time careerist “conservative” lawyers and pundits discovered state constitutions and defended our form of government rather than spread falsehoods they learned at Harvard and other centers of anti-constitutionalism.  At that point conservatives might start winning some major battles,” he added.

Coalition Issues Summary of Legal Proofs Debunking Romney's Claims

The coalition of dozens of conservative lawyers and leaders that is releasing their joint letter to Governor Mitt Romney has presented to the media and grassroots activist leaders a summary of the key legal facts that directly disprove Romney's ongoing claim he “defended marriage” against activist judges.

The joint letter includes the following evidence showing how the court did not and could not hve forced Romney to impose homosexual “marriage”:

• When Romney told America he had no choice but to "execute the law" he was not referring to any law, but to four judges’ opinion.
• The Massachusetts Constitution explicitly denies judges any authority over marriage policy
• The state Constitution denies judges any power to make, invalidate or suspend or redefine laws
• The same court had previously admitted:

-- "The Constitution as framed is the only guide. To change its terms is within the power of the people alone." (Opinion of the Justices)-- "an unconstitutional overreaching by the judiciary is an act that is “not only not warranted but, indeed, [is] precluded.”

• Romney’s oath to uphold the Constitution is to uphold it against the other branches of government and to treat unconstitutional court opinions as void (as President Jefferson did in Marbury v. Madison).
• The court majority said they were not suspending the marriage statute and that it precludes homosexual “marriage.”
• The Legislature never revoked the statute, and it remains in the Massachusetts General Laws Romney swore to uphold.
• The Goodridge ruling never asked or pretended to authorize Governor Romney to violate the statute in the event that the Legislature would not repeal it.
• Of his own volition, Romney issued void “homosexual marriage” licenses, violating the statute.
• With no authorizing legislation Romney ordered a change in the words on marriage licenses from "husband" and "wife," to "Partner A" and "Partner B."
• Stunningly, he later admitted that without enabling legislation he couldn’t change birth certificates similarly.
• Romney ordered officials to perform homosexual marriages, violating the statute (a crime under c. 207 §48), and violating the oath of office. Those who refused, he ordered to resign.
• The Massachusetts Constitution refutes Romney (and the lawyers defending him) in every aspect of his claims:

"[T]he people of this commonwealth are not controllable by any other laws than those to which their constitutional representative body have given their consent."

• Until the moment he left office, Romney had both authority and obligation as Governor to reverse the damage that has been done to the institution of marriage and the rule of law.
