How to treat a Dilaudid

Dilaudid addiction is a common occurrence in those that are prescribed the drug for pain management. Many physicians are now monitoring doses that they prescribe to their patients as it is known to be highly addictive. One can become addicted for actually taking dilaudid for the right reason with no intention of abusing it at all. It is prescribed in a pill form and syrup.

Physical and mental addiction can occur with Dilaudid. The physical signs of an addiction to this pain medication are much like signs of many other narcotics. Excessive sweating, dizziness, nausea, muscle pain and fast, extreme tiredness are all symptoms of having an addiction. Mental addiction signs can include psychological difficulties, money problems, work issues and lack of enthusiasm to form or keep relationships. There are more severe side effects that could occur if an addict does not stop the drug use. These side effects can include an allergic reaction, fainting, hallucinations, irregular heart beat, respiratory problems, tremors and vision changes. When a user decides to break free from their dilaudid addiction it should be done gradually by weaning their self off a few milligrams at a time. If the addict stops use abruptly it could lead to seizures and convulsions.

Rehabs are popping up everywhere to help people with many different types of drug addiction. Physicians and therapists work in these rehabs and can help the user learn to live a normal, day to day life, without the use of narcotics. Some rehabs have medically-based programs that will help to treat the physical withdrawal symptoms that arise from a dilaudid detox. For most people that choose this type of rehab the process can have the patient drug free within 48 hours after being admitted but the person will have to have a plan of action if they want to stay clean. This plan could be as simple as the person attending 12 step meetings.
