How to Avoid Getting Played in a Relationship

There is no worse ending to a relationship than finding out that you’ve been dating a player. It may be a matter of weeks or months, but a player will always reveal himself eventually. Sometimes it takes hindsight to realize all of the signs that were there from the very beginning. But if you are tired of ending up with players then there are steps you can take to make sure you never end up on the bad side of a relationship again. Players prey upon people who don’t know what they are doing so educate yourself about common warning signs and you won’t have to be a victim again.

Players are very good at smooth talking their way into your lives. You may even think you’ve found your soulmate when a player gives you his best sales pitch as to why you should date him. But think about where you are meeting this person and under what circumstances. The chances you are finding true love in a nightclub or bar are very slim so be realistic when it comes to expectations. Also pay attention to how the person is dressed because there is a fine line between classy and being dressed to impress. You can also notice how this person talks to others and keep an eye on how flirty they are with other women. You can usually tell how a person will behave even before the first date if you are observant enough.

Players always have something to hide whether it be details about their personal lives or their job. So look for small clues that indicate that they aren’t willing to share certain things. If a person is constantly on the phone and disappearing for days on end, then ask where they are and what they are doing. If they are evasive then there is a good chance they are hiding something from you. Use your natural instincts when it comes to determining if someone is a player. If it seems too good to be true then it usually is. The best way to keep from being played is to be cautious, and to feel good enough about yourself to demand more out of a relationship.
