Home Remedies for Bacne

Back acne is now often referred to as bacne.  Bacne is a very common condition that is said to afflict over 80 million people worldwide. While it can affect anyone, there are higher occurrences of it amongst younger people, men in particular.  Clinically, it is very similar to facial acne. It is caused by excess oil and dead skin cells clogging up pores and becoming infected. This condition is aggravated on the back due to higher levels of sweating and tighter, more restrictive clothes that allow less air flow.

As it is a fairly unsightly condition, and can be somewhat painful during an active outbreak, it is important to treat it. There are many over the counter treatments available, as well as some different home remedies for back acne that you can try. The main hindrance to treating bacne is the awkwardness of applying the creams or treatment yourself, thus it is best if you can enlist the help of someone else.

You can find quite a few ingredients for your home remedies in the kitchen. For example, mashed tomato pulp applied directly to the affected areas is said to help, as is lemon juice–although be careful not to go out in the sun with lemon juice on your skin as it will burn.  If you use lemon juice, it is best to put it on at night before going to sleep, that way you can wash it off when you shower in the morning.

Tomato pulp should be applied directly to the back and left on for an hour. You will probably need to lay down on your stomach for that hour, so the pulp remains in place on your back.  After an hour, you can rinse off the pulp with warm water.

There are many other home remedies that are cited to help, including orange peel blended with water to form a paste or aloe vera rubbed directly onto the skin. Of course, home remedies work best for fairly light cases of bacne. If you have a severe case you may want to consult a dermatologist who can prescribe something stronger for you.
