Getting Rid of that Fat Tummy

Probably most people have dreamed of having a perfectly flat belly, and a rippling six-pack. Unfortunately, a great many people struggle to get rid of excess fat around their middle and their tummies. Fat tummies afflict the young and old, men and women. They are often the result of drinking too much beer, or eating too much junk food. They can also be a result of a recent pregnancy too.  While it would be nice to find a magical cure, one that would disperse all tummy fat, unfortunately one does not exist.

It is possible to get rid of belly fat, although it may not happen overnight. The best way to work on it is to formulate a great, healthy, low calorie, low fat meal plan and to start exercising. While it is often the first place that you put weight on, it is also often the first place that you start losing weight from when dieting.

It does not depend on what type of body shape you have; the same applies pretty much to everyone across the board. When you start to lose weight, you will see it dropping away from your stomach first.  Tummy fat is made up of visceral fat, which is fat that is located around internal organs as opposed to fat that lies under the skin surface. Visceral fat is burnt more easily than other types of fat, thus it does tend to drop away quite quickly if you work at it.

Unfortunately, doing fifty sit ups will not cause your belly to go flat. In fact, spot reduction exercises are ineffective when it comes to getting rid of all that visceral fat. You are better off doing high intensity exercises that target large muscles. Those will in turn burn more calories and thus help you lose belly fat quickly.

You also need to be sure to eat the right foods if you are trying to lose weight in general, or belly fat in particular.  Making sure to include fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean meat will provide your body with all needed nutrients and limit the amount of calories you take in as well.

The best way to lose belly fat is to follow a low-calorie, healthy diet plan and to exercise daily. If you do these things you should soon see a decrease in tummy size, and you will probably feel a lot healthier as well.
