Getting A Cosmetic Eyebrow Tattoo

February 12, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Health and Fitness

For people suffering from thinning eyebrows, seeing a plastic surgeon, tattoo artist or qualified aesthetician for a cosmetic eyebrow tattoo is a popular option.

Fair-haired people often look as though they have no eyebrows at all, and spend a great deal of time every morning penciling definition onto their brows. This is an unworkable solution if you happen to be sporty, as swimming or sweating will eliminate your carefully applied brows.

Older women or those enduring cancer therapies often lose their eyebrows, leaving a stark bareness that is disconcerting to those around them. Instead of risking painting on asymmetrical brows, they opt instead for tattooed eyebrows.

Eyebrow tattooing varies greatly in price – anywhere from $250 to almost $1000! As with all important purchases, you get what you pay for. Talk to the technician to find out how much experience they have, if they are accredited, and how they plan to perform the procedure. Ask for pictures of their past clients.

When having your eyebrows tattooed, you will sit with the technician and choose the appropriate shade of ink to match your natural hair and skin colors. The tech may apply just one shade, or two at a time to make brows more defined and natural.

Holding the gun with a light hand, the technician will apply a hair stroke effect to make brows appear like natural hairs.

As with all tattooing, tattooed eyebrows can fade over time. Facial peels, swimming in salt or chlorinated water, and general exposure to sun and wind can fade the color from your tattoos. It is a good idea to revisit the cosmetic specialist every five to ten years in order to maintain your brows as fresh and attractive.

Between refreshing visits, you can care for your eyebrow tattoos by using a non-abrasive, unscented cream cleanser to wash your face, and applying sunscreen every day before going out. This will help the color stay fresh.
