Garden Lighting: Ideas for Beautiful Gardens

July 12, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Uncategorized

Garden lighting emphasizes the artistry in your work, increases the value of your property, and is a wonderful crime deterrent.  Being able to see your garden from your patio or windows all year improves your quality of life. Lighting can be in various forms such as low voltage, led, novelty lighting, and path lighting. The lighting can be electric, battery, or solar garden lighting that comes in a variety of styles to compliment any garden.

A few specific styles of lights have a diversity within. Tiered or pagoda lamps have a covered effect that extends toward the ground and covers a large area.  These lamps can be purchased in several different styles such as lamps with shades, domes, or triangles with the element discreetly hidden.  Bollard lights are also tiered lights that provide 360 degree lighting and are also extended downward to cover a large area of the ground.  Bollard lights can be used for path lighting and for a particular area of the garden.

Adjustable spotlights offer a dramatic emphasis and are placed near the edges of the walls of the home or garden for either a novelty appearance or for security reasons.  Lighting can include florescent, LED, or fiber-optic and each one has its own specific life span warranty.

Solar lighting is cost efficient and environmentally friendly.  During the day, the sun powers it up and at night illuminates for a lovely, soft emphasis. There are several different brands to consider for comparison shopping: Solar Luster Garden Lights, Solar Cattail, Hampton Bay Iron, Solar Torch, Paradise, Sea Gull, and Malibu Lighting.

Installation can be easy or complicated, depending on the type of lighting.  For complicated wiring, a gardener might wish to seek the services of a professional.  Most gardening retail stores have someone on staff who can do installations or they can recommend a reliable service to help install the wiring system.  Low voltage or solar lighting is cheaper to install and less hazardous.

When shopping for a gardening retail store, start looking nearby. Most local stores carry the popular brands but if you wish to purchase a variety of styles, there are a number of gardening retailers and landscapers on the internet. When buying garden lighting that is more complicated than low voltage or solar lighting, consult a professional.  Always make sure whatever products are advertised online or that you purchase in a store have a warranty and that you understand the return policy.
