Fluorescent Light Bulb Recycling Solutions Are Easily Available Online

Recycling is now required by many states and failure to do so can result in fines in many areas. One item that seems to escape the recycle bin is fluorescent bulbs as they are not accepted as standard recycle material. There are, however, many fluorescent light bulb recycling programs available that are quite easy to comply with.

One of the easiest and most convenient ways is to find a local recycler that handles fluorescent bulbs. These may simply be dropped off when they are no longer of use. The one drawback to this is repeat trips each time bulbs are needed to be recycled and there is no real storage for them around the home or office.

The second option is to find a local retailer that handles the lamps for recycle that you may travel to on a regular basis such as a home furnishing outlet or home improvement store. Home Depot and IKEA participate in a free fluorescent light bulb recycling program. Simply package each bulb individually in a plastic bag and deposit them in the receptacles available at each location. Be sure to check first with your local store to see if they are equipped for this.

The other option available is probably the most efficient and that is purchasing a recycle kit online. The kit will include an individual bag for each bulb that the shipping box will hold. Most of the kits can handle up to 30 bulbs, so these may be set aside until full, then shipped.

The kit has all the instructions for use included and the shipping label comes pre-paid. It is a simple matter to call whichever shipping company is used for them to come and pick up the box. Fluorescent light bulb recycling is an easy process and very environmentally conscious.
