Drinking Tea Can Help You Lose Weight

February 3, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Health and Fitness

With the growing obesity trend, many people are looking toward natural remedies to their problems instead of the expensive medical options that are available.  This is especially true when it comes to losing weight.

Green tea is a natural, healthy product that has been used for many centuries.  In addition to providing benefits for weight loss, green tea is thought to clean the body of cellular debris through its high antioxidant content, boost energy, and even slow the signs of aging.  There are a few basic ideas that make green tea so valuable when it comes to weight loss.

Drinking tea without added sugar replaces the frequently calorie-laden drinks that would normally be consumed.  When you consider that a 12 oz can of cola contains about 150 calories, almost all of them as sugar, it is easy to see why switching to green tea can help you lose weight over time.  This is especially true if you are the kind of person who drinks multiple cans of soda pop every day.  Those calories add up very quickly.

Still, despite all of its benefits, you are still going to have to put in some effort if you are really serious about losing weight.  There is no magic solution that allows you to lose huge amounts of weight without putting any real effort into the process.  Even the best weight loss teas are going to help you burn maybe 80 to 100 calories per day when used on their own.  However, when used in conjunction with a balanced eating plan and regular exercise, they become a powerful tool in your battle against obesity.

As you can see, losing weight with tea is an entirely viable option, but you need to be sure that you understand exactly what you are doing.  Even the best weight loss teas are not going to burn a great deal of calories, so you are still going to have to commit to a healthy lifestyle that supports the changes you wish to make in your body.
