Laminate flooring is a cheap alternative to hardwood flooring. Laminate flooring can look like almost any floor from stone to marble, and even hardwood. It does this by having a super realistic photographic image on top of several different layers of materials to produce one finished product.

  • Stone laminate flooring: This enables you to have a floor that imitates real stone, slate or marble floors. This can definitely be the most expensive type of laminate floor. It is also the most exquisite and durable type too.
  • Hardwood laminate flooring: This is the most common type of laminate flooring. This type of laminate flooring can be used for just about anywhere in the house. This is also the most popular type of laminate flooring.
  • Tile laminate flooring:  This type of laminate flooring has special textures that distinguish it from other types. There is special patterns and what not that make it look like actual tiles. Tile laminate flooring is a great choice to put in bathrooms and kitchens. It looks like real tiles but it is much cheaper and it is much less of a hassle.

There is also  different laminate flooring surfaces.

  • Patina:  This is made to look like a patina, so a thin layer of paint is applied to an embossed laminate flooring surface and after that it is wiped away. This leaves the paint in the indented place.
  • Wood grain: This simulates the wood grain texture and can be made to resemble hand–scraped planks, aged wood floors, authentic fireplaces and more.
  • Smooth:  This is perfect for laminate flooring made to imitate stone or marble, smooth laminate flooring offers a texture–free surface that is indeed smooth.
  • Distressed:  This is made to resemble old,  well ridden floors in its texture and appearance, distressed laminate flooring looks like it is already used and “lived in”. This creates an authentic experience.
  • Embossed: This is a raised surface pattern that is made by applying some heat and pressure to the laminate flooring.

So there you have it, all the main type of laminate floor and surfaces.
