Conservatory Blinds: Internal or External Blinds

July 8, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Home

Are you currently faced with the question of what type of conservatory blinds to get and what difference it will make?  What is the determining factor?  Do I really need window coverings for my conservatory or can I have my conservatory open and uncovered?  These are some of the questions you may want to ask yourself as you contemplate decorating your conservatory or sunroom.

Seeing as your conservatory or sunroom is mostly used and occupied in the winter months and you want to take advantage of the sunshine and enjoy a bit of eco-friendly and energy saving warmth, introducing blinds can either enhance or cause an undesired effect to your conservatory.  When you are deciding on installing blinds in your conservatory you must keep in mind the types of blinds and effect they will have.

There are two types of conservatory blinds.  There are internal and external blinds.  Internal blinds (the right ones anyway) will maximize the warmth in your conservatory as they will allow the right amount of sunlight to enter as you desire and at the same time create a blanket effect by keeping the warm air in as long as possible and prevent the heat from escaping too quick.  With internal blinds you can easily control the amount of sunlight you get in while enjoying some privacy if needed.

External blinds, however, will very much restrict the sunlight entering your conservatory and therefore result in a much undesired and cooler temperature.  This is because the sunlight doesn’t even get a chance to enter your sunroom as it hits the external blinds first.  So, unless you want to limit the warm temperature in your conservatory, don’t get external blinds.

While there are a large variety of blinds on the market, the effect the type of blinds will have on your conservatory has to be taken into consideration before you make a purchase and start installing them.
