Consequences for Not Having Auto Insurance
When you’re a college student and you’re thinking of your future when you graduate and you’re out on your own, you don’t realize what that really means. Living on your own means you pay for all of your own bills for living expenses. Up until now a college student has usually depended on his parents to pay for living expenses, including auto insurance premiums. When they finally graduate they’re in for a big shock when they have to pay their own bills including, rent, utilities, car payments, student loans, credit card bills, food expenses, and their auto insurance. This realization can come as a big blow to someone who has never paid a bill in their life. When they signed up for that credit card it was so easy. They came to the campus and set up a booth with pizza and drinks and just had you fill out a form. That was the first mistake in building up financial debt. The college student was never taught how to manage credit such as a credit card where if you want something you just whip that card out of your wallet and pay for it. The bill is completely out of their mind. But, some day they will add up and they will have to start paying them.
They will probably have trouble balancing a budget for awhile especially if they have large student loans to pay off. The college student just thought they’d graduate, get a good job, and have enough money to pay for everything. But they didn’t realize what that everything would total each month. That’s the reason a lot of young people don’t have auto insurance. They believe that they can do without that because they feel they’re such good drivers that they don’t need insurance. They’ll never get into an accident. At that age, young people don’t know what a consequence actually is. They have never had to deal with one. They probably don’t even know what the penalties of driving without insurance are. Hopefully, they will not have to find out the hard way. Some states have high penalties for not having auto insurance such as large fines, impounding of their car, and sometimes even jail time. That could hurt the record of a young person for life, but they don’t know that, even though someone probably has told them.
The student’s parents should have drilled it into their brain, but parents don’t usually have that much influence on their teenagers. If you are a student that will be graduating soon and be on your own, you should start looking around for a seminole auto insurance company that will offer you an inexpensive auto insurance policy. There may be discounts for you if you had good grades and a clean driving record. There are also discounts for how many miles you drive per year and for the type of vehicle you drive. You should take these things into consideration when looking for the right insurance company. Just make sure that the company you sign up with is a reputable, financially stable company and not one of these cheap ones that promise what they can’t deliver.
