Cheap Student Auto Insurance

Cheap student car insurance quotes isn’t always easy to find – student and teenage drivers are generally considered to be high risk, as they have no established record of safe driving. However, in addition to shopping around and comparing rates, there are things you can do to ensure lower premium amounts.

If you are a parent trying to insure your teenage or student driver, try to add them on to your existing auto insurance policy, as it is usually cheaper that way. However, if the student owns the car or is considered the primary driver, they may have to take out a separate policy.

Of course, the type of car that a student drives can also have an effect on the amount of the premium. A ‘safe’ family type car is going to be less expensive to insure than an SUV or sports car. And many insurance companies give discounts to younger drivers whose vehicle has safety features or anti-theft devices.

If you are a student living at home and attending college close by, you can probably get a lower rate by asking for a low mileage discount, if most of your driving is just to and from college. And let your car insurance know if you are a member of any alumni or student groups – another possible discount.

Simply maintaining good grades at school can help to lower the cost of your auto insurance. If you can maintain a grade ‘B’ average, many insurance companies class you as lower risk and lower your rate accordingly. Your rate may also be lower if you take a driver education class, if offered by your school or college.

Car insurance for a student driver isn’t cheap – it can cost between $3,000 and $13,000 per year. A little time spent comparison shopping and ensuring you are getting every applicable discount will help you get cheap lady student car insurance rates.
