Why do under 25s pay higher car insurance premiums? Because they are considered by the insurer to be higher risk for being involved in an accident and therefore having to make a claim than other drivers.

Under 25 years of age motorists are classed as inexperienced motorists, they don’t have many years built up on their no claims bonus so they cannot get any of the big discounts that other motorists can get how have at least five years or more no claims bonus. A lot of younger motorists do tend to not have a clean driving licence, they usually have been caught speeding and have three or more penalty points on their licence. Having convictions on your driving licence will not help when you come to getting an insurance quote make the insurer will think that you are a liability and risky for having an accident.

So how can under 25s get a cheap car insurance quote and beat their renewal premium? Here, are a few ideas that may help them achieve more savings, because lets face it they usually pay the most expensive insurance premiums.

First think to do is maybe get a quote for third party, fire and theft policy. Comprehensive policies are very expensive for the under 25s and this might be a better option, it means that they will be covered if they have an accident and its not their fault, but if it is there fault then you would have to pay for the repairs to your vehicle yourself. This can save loads of money, so you should consider this as an alternative.

Young motorist should maybe join the Pass Plus scheme or even take a course like the advanced drivers. This will get you a small discount as you are proving to the insurer that you are learning to become a more careful driver. With both these discounts you could be looking at a saving of up 35%.
