Buying tips for commercial bar stools

July 1, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Uncategorized

If you are looking to buy a commercial bar stool, a good place to start is by reading review from other consumers.  Be extremely careful however to make sure that the reviewer is not using the chair in a home environment.  Commercial bar stools need to be made in a much sturdier fashion.  Purchasing a bar stool based on rave reviews from a home user will not be helpful.

If you want to purchase a chair for commercial environments make sure to shop around.  There are many knock off chair designs.  Knock off chairs may look similar but will not hold up as well in a high use environment.  If you are looking for heavy duty chairs, you may want to avoid chairs from places such as Ikea.  These chairs may look stylish but will not hold up to the rigors of restaurant usage.

A good idea is to check the physical weight on the chair.  This can be used as a good guideline when purchasing commercial bar stools.  Often times this is a dead giveway if a chair is not made to high quality standards.  Lower cost chairs are made with inferior material.  For example, if you are purchasing a steel chair you need to pay attention to the steel tubing gauge.  Manufacturers may not always state this information, with good reason.  This can be one of the ways manufacturers can cut costs as raw material prices rise over time.

Lower weight steel tubing should be avoided as it will not be able to hold welds as well.  A good example of a bar stool not to buy is something from a retailer such as Walmart.   These chairs are extremely cheap for a reason.  They are imported from places such as China, and use very light weight tubing material.  This lightweight tubing will bend very easily.  In addition to the tube bending, issues will crop up from weld joints which break.  Thinner steal cannot handle welds as well on the tubing material.
