Acne Treatment and Causes

What is acne?
Acne is a skin disease that consist of follicular papules or comedones. Comedones are blackheads and whites. It can occur anywhere on the body, including the back, chest, neck, face, and buttocks. Acne occurs mostly in teens, but it can affect adults as well.

What causes acne?
Acne is caused by oil and dead skin being trapped in the hair follicle, which creates a plug in the pores. The plug is called a comedo. Non-inflammed comedones are blackheads and whiteheads. As the pimple progresses, bacteria gets inside and the follicale wall is ruptured and causes redness. Some acne that develops are cysts, which are develop deep in the skin.

Treatments for acne redness?
A treatment for acne redness is witch hazel. Witch hazel can be used as a toner to soothe the redness in acne. Another treatment is using eye drops. Place a couple of drops of eye drop solution on the pimple and it will reduce the redness.

Treatments for acne scars?
Vitamin e is a treatment for acne scars. Just open a vitamin e capsule and rub gently on the acne scar twice a day. Use 10 percent glycolic acid on the acne scar twice a day. The skin will go through a purging period, but it will help both acne and the scar. Scrubs are also good to help with acne scarring. The best scrubs are the ones that include two percent salicylic acid. It is also important to use a moisturizer with spf 15 daily when using any type of acne treatment.

Treatments to prevent acne?
An acne sufferer can prevent acne by washing the face with a 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide cleanser twice a day. At night, apply a thin layer of 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide to clean face. Exfoliate weekly to remove dead skin cells.
