A Review Of the LEGO Millennium Falcon
The genius of the LEGO Millennium Falcon 7778 is the size of the ship. When pictures were first released, many people were angry about the size, complaining that it was too small and would not fit in with the rest of the LEGO Star Wars collection. The mid- sized ship brings one of the larger ships in the Star Wars series down to an affordable price. Before the release there were only four Millennium Falcon sets, and only one of them cost under 99 dollars.
Inside the box are three bags containing all the bricks needed to build the ship, with the largest bag holding two smaller bags inside, for a total of five bags. Soring the bricks takes under ten minutes, and building the ship takes less than 45 minutes from start to finish.
Once the ship is built it looks exactly like a falcon. It has all the details, down to the rotating radar dish, gunner stations, corridor to the cockpit, storage bay, and other noticeable details. the set has enough plates in the top, back part of the shop to give it a nice round look and feel. The engine uses blue tubing to give it an authentic looking glow, while red tiles are placed around the ship toggle color to the predominately gray ship. The bottom of the ship features landing gear, two boat studs, and a gunner station. The guns are created with a pair of binoculars placed on their side, and are able to rotate in all directions.
The set also comes with a number of stickers to place around the ship. The cockpit requires three stickers to place on a cone shaped piece to give it an authentic look. Although it makes for a nice look, it might have been easier for LEGO to print the designs directly on the cone, instead of making people deal with trying to align them correctly.
The ship measures a little over nine inches long and seven inches wide, perfect size to pick up and fly across any room, or rest on a desk or shelf. The 356 piece set packs enough detail into the Millennium Falcon that everyone will stop and look at it. The set does not contain any LEGO minifigures and is exclusive to Walmart. This means that people who think that it is still overpriced, it may be possible to find it for a rollback price and save some more money on the set. The one thing that the set needs is a way to display the ship. Although there are moving turrets, it is clear that it was designed to be played with for a few minutes before it is put on display.
