A Look At Marshmallow Guns

February 10, 2010 | Author: Admin | Filed under: Family and Home

When it comes to projectiles that are both safe and fun it is hard to beat marshmallows.  Couple that with the fact that marshmallows are readily available (in fact most houses have a bag sitting in the pantry) and you have a winning combination of ease of use, relative safety and enjoyment.  Yes, marshmallow guns are a great addition to just about anyone’s repertoire and can be used by both young and old alike for hours of fun.

So what types of guns are available?  The standard marshmallow gun is made from PVC pipe (i.e. the white plumbing lines that move the waste water from your house to the outside) and are relatively easy to make.  Simple purchase the right diameter of PVC piping, cut to length, add a few 90 degree elbows and you are good to go.

You can also purchase ready made marshmallow shooters which are more of a pump action variety and are made from your standard clear plastic.  These don’t shoot as far, but are inexpensive and can have you up and running pronto.

The final kind of marshmallow gun that many people use is an air powered marshmallow gun.  If you get one that allows for enough pressure these can actually be dangerous.  The premise being that you build up the pressure using a bike pump or air compressor and then strategically release bursts with your marshmallow getting ready for launch.

Whether you choose to make your own marshmallow gun or purchase a ready made one from a bricks and mortar or online shop the premise remains the same.  Take marshmallows and shoot that at people, animals, and targets.  You can go out to a favorite park or the backyard and go with a paint ball type of game.  There are even guides out there that help you design your own marshmallow gun course.  Whatever works for you is the best approach to take.  No matter the path, you are guaranteed to have a blast!
